As you, Firebug has been discontinued as a separate Firefox add-on.The reason for this huge change is, Mozilla’s project name for a redesign of Firefox architecture to improve responsiveness, stability, and security. Electrolysis’s multiprocess architecture makes it possible for Firefox to run its user interface (things like the address bar, the tabs and menus) in one process while the content (websites) runs in other processes. With multiprocess architecture, if a website crashes, it doesn’t also crash the whole browser.Unfortunately, Firebug wasn’t designed with multiprocess in mind, and making it work in this new scenario would have required an extremely difficult and costly rewrite. The agreed they didn’t have enough resources to implement such a massive architectural change. Additionally, Firefox’s built-in developer tools have been gaining speed, so it made sense to base the next version of Firebug on these tools instead. The decision was made that the next version of Firebug (codenamed Firebug.next), and Firebug would be merged into the built-in tools. And perhaps most importantly, we joined forces to build the best developer tools together, rather than compete with each other.

Many of Firebug’s core developers are on the DevTools team, including. Other Firebug Working Group members like and are also active DevTools contributors.A huge thank you to them for bringing their expertise in browser developer tooling to the project! In practical terms, what does it mean to merge Firebug into DevTools?Several features have been absorbed: The, the HTTP inspector (aka XHR Spy), and various popular add-ons like,. Also, were fixed to close the gap between DevTools and Firebug. For curious readers, a couple of articles on and on the go into more detail. If you are switching now from Firebug to Firefox DevTools, you will of course notice differences.

  1. Mozilla and the Firebug team announced today that development of Firebug as a separate Firefox add-on has been discontinued. Firebug, probably the most popular third-party development add-on for Firefox ever, has been available for Firefox for a very long time. I mentioned it here in 2008 for instance as one of the top five Firefox add-ons.
  2. Firebug is the most famous add-on for the FireFox browser. It gels with FireFox so well to bring you plenty of tools for web development. It gives you control over the document object model of the web page so that you can modify, manage, and monitor the CSS, HTML, and JavaScript in real-time.

This can help you.We understand that disruption is never really welcome, but we are working hard to ensure developers have the best possible tools, and sometimes this means we need to refocus and use resources wisely. You can help: Tell us which features you need are missing. 11 comments. Firefox UserIs this available now in Firefox 50.1.0?. Lawrence SanYour list of “most important” items here doesn’t mention font color. That’s the single biggest annoyance for me. Right now the Console’s ordinary log text appears in red, and the alert/error text in black.

Obviously it should be the other way around. I’m seeing this problem in all the themes, including the Firebug theme, so there’s probably some underlying issue that affects all of them. It’s very disconcerting to have to read ordinary log messages in red. Mark Fischer, Jr.How are you logging things in the console? You might be using the wrong function call, I’ve never seen normal logs printed in red in the firefox dev tools.

Lawrence SanLike this:console.log(“graphicSeriesScripts.js has loaded.”);That’s near the top of one of my separate JS files. How would you log it?In the Firebug theme, that message appears in red type. In the Light and Dark themes, it appears in a kind of muddy orange colored type. Young and hungry torrent. I can’t find anyplace where you can configure or adjust how it appears. YepHepWhat about plugins such as FirePHP? Any chance that these could be shimmed to continue functioning under new DevTools?

Otherwise we all be looking to migrate to I guess. FlyingHailFrom Firefox 43, the Web Console can display messages sent from the server.

Firebug Is Compatible With Which Version Of Firefox

Hi guys the only solution at the moment is using two version of firefox altogether, I was using many very useful addons with firefox like firebug, Reminderfox, colorzilla etc. Was also using fireshot which is available for new version too but having limited features. So here is my solution:-Install latest firefox quantum in your pc then download portable firefox older version from here and just extract it any where in your pc.

Firebug Plugin For Firefox

Create its shortcut on desktop, then right click it and go to Properties. In the window that open go to 'Shortcut' tab and in target field write 'D:portappsFirefoxPortable-48.0.2FirefoxPortable.exe -P 'My Profile' -no-remote, so it will be 'your file path -P 'My Profile' -no-remote'. This will allow you to run both old and new version simultaneously, so that you can use old addons in old version. REMEMBER always open older version first to whom you have added the '-P 'My Profile' -no-remote', then open the new version. I'm using now firefox v54 on Mac + firebug + some plugins for web develop and never update my ff browser in the future. Find v54 hereBut first what you need do after install - that is disable your Wi-Fi or Lan and then open Firefox - Preferences - Advanced - Update - and set option: Never check for updates (not recommended: security risk)Then you can run Wi-Fi or Lan, because if you don't do this - firefox download latest version on background and after restart Fox you can see latest update:-).

Thank you, it works:)Copied all files in Quantum /appdata/roaming/mozilla/firefox/profile/profilehere to portable data/profile and now FireFTP with all accounts is back! As well as Firebug.Edit: For some reason the portable version updated itself even though I had turned updates OFF! It might have been because synch was still active (didnt think of that). Have re-reinstalled portable version and works again.Edit: Works no more since Mozilla are deadly decided to NOT have Firebug or ANYTHING else that people like anymore.
