Haven't coresponded recently, and it's been a while, but there is some fine guitar work here in all styles. To grab some right click the song title on the left and save to target. Also tab, for the non readers.EnjoyKenny. ORIGINAL: Joe BravoHey Kenny, this is off topic but, didn't you once mention that you play a guitar synth of some kind?
If so, which one? And do you play keyboards also or is all your synth stuff done with guitar? Sorry if I'm confused but I could have sworn I remembered you saying something about a guitar synth a while back.Hey Bill, What's a little off topic discusion between friends.I have been playing/ using a midi guitar since 82/83 my first was a Roland GR.100 or 300, strat style with 2 humbuckers. In or around 86 I got the one I have now which is anIbanez X-ING IMG 2010 with the MC 1 rack mount. At the time I got it I had non paid endorsments with Guild and Kramer Guitars,Thank You Mark D.and Dennis Ber. ( got a few free guitars as long as I played emm live which I did for a time) and sold a few of them in the music shop for my day gig.Ibanez was considering an endorsment deal with me, and what they did was a deal with Mannys where I got the one I have now for $400. At the time it went for $1500.00Here's what mine looks like.

- Hey everyone! We have just released a free download of MIDI strumming files for use with Acou6tics! We are extremely grateful for the response we have received for Acou6tics and as a token of our thanks, we created 156 MIDI files featuring 4/4, 3/4, and 6/8 strumming patterns.
ORIGINAL: RobertBI import the files to SHS4, asign the track output to a soft synth(Edirol VSC), and hit play. They seem to find their own patch ok, and I have even assigned different patches, like the 12 string. Is there another prefered method, or am I on the right track?By the way, that Harmony Central MIDI tutorial is a huge bonus. I rented a Roland midi guitar unit once years ago Kenny. I think it was a GR 700 or something like that.
It looked a little like your Ibanez. Anyway, the thing wouldn't track worth a darn and I never tried another one since I'm not real big on synths anyway. But you can find used ones pretty cheap now so I've thought about looking at some. I know Metheny always said that the reason the old GR 303/300 worked so well was because there was no midi involved.
But everyone I know says that while the GR 300 works like a charm, it doesn't get very much variety of sounds and you always end up sounding like Metheny (the typical horn patch I guess). Hey Kenny,I got a chance to listen to every one of your tunes at Acid Planet last week.
Excellent man! I don't remember which one now but I was gonna ask you about a tune (it might be the one you linked to above) that had a clean tone playing being a bunch of synth tracks. It had something along the lines of that sassy old Eric Gale tone.
I was wondering what kind of guitar you used on it. It sure didn't sound like a tele! It remined me of a cross between a ES 175 and a Birdland. Very sweet tone. Maybe an Ibanez George Benson model?
Hey Bill, thanks for the listens,I just got done updating and posting one of my songs The Bandarelo, finaly got it more in the ball park.I wish I knew which song you are refering to, my guess would be Electric Zucchini, that has a lot of synths, very recent song also, with an Eric Gale type of sounding lead.If thats the one you mean,Guitar Left Tele, Guitar Midle Joe Pass Model, and Lead guitar D Armond Guild Starfire. For Jazz Guitar I have 3 very different GuitarsJoe Pass 2 Humbuckers.D Armond Guild Starfire 2 D Armond Pick Ups.Sweet Sound. Semi HolowbodyDean Palimino 3 P 90 Pick Ups.Just like people have Microphone's they loveI feel that way about guitar pickkups.BTW Eric Gale and Cornell Dupre are a couple of realy nice guys, I used to go out and hear them with Stuff some years ago, they were nice to me and would talk to me.Its been a while. But I never forget guys like that, when they are nice to you, even though they a first call players, and I was just a guitar nut.trying to learn by listening.Kenny. D Armond Guild Starfire?
I knew it was a thin bodied axe tone I was hearing but I wouldn't have taken it for a having a solid block in it like my 335. I'm surprised.
I really liked it.I've never played an Emperor before. I don't know if I'd care for one. Pass was a great fingerpicker etc., but the only record of his I own is Virtuoso from the early 70's. I really hated his tone throughout that record. It sounded like they recorded him with a mic on the guitar and no amp! Just dreadful sounding to me. I know Bucky and John Pizzarelli have both recorded like that and some people like the sound.
It ain't for me though. I have heard some other recordings of Pass on the radio and video at YouTube that sounded much better. One thing I dicovered watching him at YouTube is that he plays almost on the neck of the guitar which explains part of the sound I don't like. I mean sometimes that's cool but I wouldn't want to hear somebody play like that all night.
I sure liked 'Cherokee' from that Virtuoso record. That's the best rendition of it ever IMHO. Yeah it's a good AXE,I'm happy with it.I met Joe Pass after the Virtuoso album came out.I had a friend named Brad who introduced me to him. When ever Joe would come to town ( NY at the time) we would go and hang with him,It was funny in a way.2 guys driving around in a toyota going to pick up a National Guitar Treasure, hang out with him, watch the gig, bribe, and smoke some Hard Core Cigars.Joe loved a good cigar.
